I planned a surprise proposal with Angela’s mom and Bridgette, one of her best friends. What a day!!! Read below as Angela tells the story from February 1, 2008.

Engagement Story

Angela:
Chris was supposed to leave from Dallas on a 10:30 am flight. It was delayed until 12:30 and he got to Milwaukee to find out that he was delayed, wait no canceled for his flight to Appleton. He had to take a bus from Milwaukee to Appleton all the while knowing that he was an hour late for the dinner he had planned for me… on my end I was told “dad has to work late and Bridgette had to run out to Hortonville to drop something off for Tom’s son, whatever, Casey and I were having popcorn and a drink so I was fine

Bridgette, Casey, Tom and I all sat at the bar waiting for mom and dad to get to the restaurant for the “dinner Bridgette threw together since I’m moving to TX”. Mom and dad showed up finally after “dad had to work late”.

Engagement Story

We were seated for dinner and Tom got up from the table and came back with three roses, one for Bridgette, one for Casey and one for mom. Each rose had a card attached that they had me read aloud to start dinner. They were in Bridgette’s handwriting but didn’t make total sense considering they were written by Chris.

Casey handed me the first card and I read…. “Family. You love your family and your family loves you. You are an inspiration, a caring sister, a precious daughter and a loving mother. You are exactly the model woman upon which I want to build our family.”

Bridgette handed me the second card and rose and I read…. “Friendship. Through you I have found my best friend. The bond that we share is unbreakable, it gets stronger day by day. I cherish every moment shared with you and look forward to an everlasting friendship” (at which time I looked over at her and asked her if she was a lesbian! laughing out loud now as I think about it).

Mom handed me the final rose and card and I read…. “Love… I love you. Not just today, but yesterday and tomorrow. I love you with an undying passion and my love for you continues to grow as we grow together. I could say it over and over and over. I love you.”

After I finished reading the final card I looked at mom and her eyes filled up with tears as she said “we all love you but these words are not our words, they are from the man standing behind you.”

I turned around to see Chris standing there!

He walked over, gave me a big hug asked me to have a seat and said….

“Love, Friendship, Family, Affection, Devotion, Companionship, Relationship, Faith, Future, Togetherness, Sacrifice, Support, Trust, Caring, Compromise, Spirit, Openness, Desire, Beauty, Passion, Woman, Mother – Since I met you, all these words have taken on new meanings for me. I could not have dreamed up a more perfect woman to build the rest of my life with. You have renewed my faith in love and you lift my spirits daily. You are the love of my life, the fire of my passion, you are my foundation, my rock and you are my best friend.”

He got down on one knee and said….

“Forever is a long time, though it’s still not enough time to show you all the love I have for you in my heart. But if that is all the time I have allowed on this earth, I’ll take it. Angela, will you marry me?”
